Hello, I’m Andrée Sonad KARAVELİ KARTAL – Architect, Researcher and Designer from Türkiye.

I received M.Sc. in Architecture from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, School of Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2009 with a dissertation and project titled “People vs. Earthquakes”. I received my Ph.D. with thesis titled “Kinematic design and analysis of deployable vault and pseudo-dome structures based on origami techniques” from Izmir Institute of Technology, Department of Architecture in 2017. I worked as an architect/designer in the private sector between my degrees. I’m currently a part-time instructor and independent researcher. My areas of interest are post-disaster temporary settlements and disaster management, origamic architecture (folded and foldable structures) and architectural education.
